ZapakMail, is this a joke?

I still cannot comprehend logically what Reliance is trying to do with ZapakMail. While the Zapak gaming site launch makes some sense - but not much business sense in terms of how they plan to recover the money they’ve spent on their media blitz - ZapakMail seems to be a complete failure. They’re probably signing up a whopping 50 to at max 100 webmail accounts daily… and their traffic ranking shows a dismal 1500 page views daily. In comparison Zapak probably does about 500,000 page views daily - and in that sense it has been somewhat of a success when put side-by-side with other Indian free gaming content portals like Games2Win - which in my opinion is enjoying a very short-term ride, with current traffic pegged at about half of what Zapak is getting.

Going back to ZapakMail - I still haven’ a clue of what they are up to with that? Can anyone please comment and help me out … maybe I am missing something here?

From where did u get thsi number of 500,000 PVs on Zapak. Their Alexa rank shows that they are no.23 in India which means they must be getting 3-4 million pageviews a day. Games2win must be getting close to 1-2 lakh PVs a day.

I disagree. A page rank of 23 in India on Alexa does not mean that much traffic. I calculate this based on a site that I own. I compare it to these sites and thats how I get my accurate figures. Games2win is doing about a little less than half as much as zapak…. which is around 250,000 page views daily.

Well I still dont know how you are calculating that. I work for ICICI and thier current Rank & Zapak’s current Rank in Alexa is similar. ICICI website get 6 million pageviews a day. I am not sure about games2win because Alexa shows huge difference between 2.

OK. so I hopped over to Alexa and Checked ICIC vs Zapak vs Games2win. If your claim of ICICI doing 6 million page views per day is accurate then - Zapak is doing 40% of that (based on the graph) - which is about 2.4 million, and Games2win is doing about 1 million.

So, my estimate of Zapak doing 500,000 daily page views is wrong IF your claim of ICICIbank website gets 6 million page views is accurate. So, my question - where is this data from?

Also, Alexa counts multiple visits to the SAME page as ONE page view. (here’s a snippent from their site - Page views measure the number of pages viewed by Alexa Toolbar users. Multiple page views of the same page made by the same user on the same day are counted only once. The page views per user numbers are the average numbers of unique pages viewed per user per day by the users visiting the site.)

So, my next insight is that if your 6 million figure is accurate - and is actual page views daily - even by same users to same page mulitiple number of times - then the 500,000 figure is correct. Why? Because your system of counting page views and that of Alexa’s differs. Also, people on Zapak probably play and are hooked on to the same game, thereby visiting the same page several times daily - thereby keeping the pageviews in Alexa’s ranking at 500,000 (1/5th) of the estimate derived based on your 6 million figure… which I guess is accurate - as a player would probably visit / play the same game (page) about 5 times per day. Lost?
